Katie Thomas is so grateful to be a Katydid! This Detroit native earned a B.F.A. in Theatre Performance and a B.A. in English from the University of Michigan. While there, she was honored to perform for alum, Arthur Miller, in An Arthur Miller Celebration, directed by Tony nominee, Mark Lamos. Katie received the 2007 Wild Award for Best Actress in an Original Production from Detroit’s Between the Lines for her role as Dottie in Before and Laughter (Planet Ant Theatre). She recently spent four months performing with a Second City ensemble aboard a Norwegian Cruise Line in Alaska. Katie is a graduate of the improvisational theatre programs at IO, The Annoyance, and The Second City, Detroit, where she also studied writing. She has performed in Chicago at The Second City, the iO Theater, The Annoyance Theatre, ComedySportz, and The Playground Theater, as well as at iO West in Hollywood, the Upright Citizens Brigade in New York City, and in many Detroit venues. Starting in November 2011, she will be performing in a show designed for kids at The Second City's new Up Theatre. Her episode of the web series, Break-ups, will be appearing at the 2012 Geneva International Film Festival. Katie teaches yoga and runs an improvisation program for Chicago public high school students through the After School Matters program, which brings her much joy. Katie thanks her parents, her friends, her cats, and, of course, The Katydids, for their support. Find out more at
