Born and raised in Chicago, Cate began studying comedy at the ripe age of twelve at The Second City. Some of Freedman's most notable theatrical credits include the long running two woman show "Omelet" seen at the Del Close Marathon at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in New York for five consecutive years, "Dinner for Six" at iO Chicago and The Second City National Touring Company (where she is currently the youngest performer). She has also acted in a number of films and shorts that have been screened at festivals all over the world, including the Vimeo award winning improvised series, “Break-ups”, for which Freedman received a Best Actress nomination at the 2011 Midwest Independent Film Festival.
